Some history of the place
While looking for more history on the place (someone told me when buying property-do background checks :) ),
I found a very useful Page to get old Maps . This gave me a lot of background info on the property.
For example that it was
- Build on or direct next to an old Mill Pond
-Used to be used as a Assembly Hall for the working mens club
1891 map:
The rest of the history is more or less hearsay as a lot of the old documents from the town burned a few years ago in a fire at the storage .
I went to the National Archive to have a look at some more documents, but they where all kind of useless and did not have any information about the structure.
What we know is that it was used as a Children Nursery for the last few years before I came across it.
The Building Structure itself is an uninsulated, Metal clad, Timber Frame with Timber Floor on top of a Brick Foundation.
Very similar to the Suspended Timber Floors in Old Victorian Buildings.
It was mentioned by some of the Architects that had a look at it that the Brick Foundation has to be build after 1970s as there was a DampProofCourse in the Wall which wasn't used before these times .
But this was likely to be only in a small part of the building which later was used as the kitchen and WC extension.
