Plinths wall , Garden Wall , Bricklaying ... PART1

So after the RingBeam was finally done, it was just a very quick and unstressfull small step to have the Block and Beam (or better block and insualtion) floor done.

Just kidding,

This also took me months after months now.
Just checked ... the Block and Beam insualted floor was ordered in March ... and we are pouring the final bit tomorrow (Sept 2021)

To begin with, i was planning o buy the Concrete beams for the B&B floor from 1 local supplier and get the infill insualtion from somewhere cheaper . Cheaper than the combined system was quoted at least.

After all, the XPS or EPS insulation should be relatively cheap --- and concrete beams also don t cost the world.

 WRONG

Nobody and i mean absolutely nobody in the UK or in Europe is selling the T-shapes Block and Beam Insualtion infills (you know, the bits that replace the Blocks) separately. Its either the whole package or nothing...

So i was planning to produce these T-shaped Insualtion bits myself - lots of laughter on the Buildhub forum... and me buying a shit-ton of insualtion (cheap off ebay) .

Turned out, i do not have the time (family and job) or the nerves(just me) to do it, so ended up buying the complete package from Longley concrete (BEAMSHIELD SYSTEM), which was pretty ok.

Not really the best service- but than again, i am what you call a difficult customer -to say the least.

So day of the delivery came- and me +2 mates transporting 8tonnes of concrete beams plus an absolute mountain of insualtion  into the grounds - via hand trolley.
