The Frame is going up- fast.

Contrary to the previous months, where the progress was slow- the team that worked on the foundations was delivering poor quality - and everything generally was just  dragging and extremely annoying , now we been in for some good news .

Agreed a starting date with our carpenters (in September- for October). Agreed with them that they  be the main team on site from start of the frame to finish (of the house) . Took a bit of a gamble as never worked with them but had a very good gut feeling .

And i was right.

Carpenters are an amazing team.

Quality . Work Ethic. Precision. Just Every.Step.Of.The.Frame . a pure joy to work with and watch working .

So back to the frame : had to get all the materials (rmbr: "1 HOUSE 1 LORRY " ) on site. Dont want my precious carpenters to do their back and so luckily i found some teenagers in my neighbourhood that are willing (and able) to earn themselves some decent pocket money for just carrying stuff from A to B.

So the First step of the Frame was to build the Large Portal Frame Sections and Lift them up .

All connections done double and triple secured with Simpson Strong Ties and Screwed+Glued Angles.

While putting the portal sections up, the guys straight away put the first floor in to make sure there is a cross brace holding the building together/up while boarding it.

After most of the Portal Sections where up, the guys started to board the frame (outside first, then inside)

Only the last photos are missing as it progresses fast. By the time i am writing , the Outside and inside is entirely boarded with MDF/OSB and membrane is installed on the entire outside . Inside is already taped airtight . (big thanks to the Sales Rep from SIGA who came out on a few hours notice to bring us more Airtight tape when we ran out) . I will update those photos after the holidays.

One mistake i made in the planning was to not spend more time on thinking about floor level/height and position of the Vapour control layer . It will all work out but could have saved some head scratching and "workaround solutions" But then again- cant account for everything - Biggest lesson learnt is: spend time/money on the team building /helping. A good team make it work , even if the planning isnt perfect. A bad team will f+++  up  the best planning  in the world.

So now it s Christmas and the site will be resting for 1 week .

I will go and visit Simon (SimplySimon) to collect the Cellulose Blower we bought together a year ago

Unfortunately he hasnt used it for his house so i will have to play with it to find out how it works . Was hoping that i can learn from all the mistakes he made in the process  :)

Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Insualtion and internal fit out (incl all the 1st fixes ) next.
